My first post!
So I started practicing today. I love playing, but I can't help but get slightly frustrated because it takes me a long time to read bass clef. I wonder if I should have started with the first piano book? Right now I am working on the first song in the Second book called "Down in the Valley", but it is taking some time to ge through it. So far I've practiced for about 15 minutes and have gotten through the first eight measures, but still mess up when I go back to play it. Is it normal for it to take such a long time to figure out what to play or should I have started with the First book?

Hi April! It's more than normal to get frustrated reading the bass clef- especially since we use it so much less often than the treble clef. Becoming more comfortable with the bass clef can be one of your goals for this course. We can also talk about the different books today, and if you feel like moving to book 1 would be a better idea, I think the bookstore accepts exchanges (I hope!) See you tonight.
